4 way games take a long time.

40k really isn't designed for 4 way games, doesn't stop us trying though. However it is always a game of two halves. This one had game 1 - Imperial Guard vs Demon Hunters at point blank.... Then Orks & Eldar vs the Human leftovers. Here are some pics

43 Imperial Guard down, vox the Ogryns

So after watching 43 Troops fall under a Ork Warboss & Nob squad. I started scouting the list for anything that could would be more effective then a packet of Chicken Nuggets trying to stop an 18 wheeler.

There is only one option Ogryns! Ogryns though are very expensive units at £10 a figure, £16 for the forgeworld ones (then you still have to convert them for regular units). So with one Forgeworld already under my belt and an ebay account, 7 Black Museum Guard irregulars pitched up for duty for £30.

Battlereport: Orks, Grey Knights, Imperial Guard

P1000861

P1000856Mission Background
There are 2 Objective to capture and hold.
3 way 750 points, although I think we all pushed it by 10 points.

A mysterious power source has appeared in the sector (Objective 1) and a an old Ork probe was left lying around to alert the orks if anything happened in the sector (objective 2).

Armies

Orks probe has flagged up the power source and possibility of some humies, they head out on Mass and in their truck to go investigate. Army playing pure horde with a single truck to get them into the fight.

Grey Knights have just returned to investigate rumours of a warp hole that had been opened up. Hard hitting strike force made up of a Stormtrooper Squad, Marine Squad, Dreadnaught and some Termies.

P1000851Black Musuem Guard are looking to secure mysterious power source, start trudging through the swamp, bush with their Zombie Hoard in tow. Infantry, Sentinal, Griffon, Punisher, and HQ Command and platton Command, The Zombies are Conscripts with two CC weapons and no ranged ability.

Infiltrate:
Ratling snipers set up with sites over the plains.

TURN 1

The Greenskins playing pure hoard tactics decide to split forces. Weirdboy and his squad of 15 head straight for the marines ignoring the probe.

The battletruck, full of nobz and the warBoss, is  followed by a 20 strong squad of chopa boyz that  head straight for the mass of zombies in the woods.

Weirdboyz brain blows up takes a few of his own men with him.

Grey Knights take up position, send small arms fire at the Weirdboy Ork squad that isheading for them. TP1000861hey take casualties fromt the returning ork fire.

BMG Position Mortar and herd the zombie hoarde through the swamps, they spot the Ork strike force on the right hand side and setup a defensive line of troops. Command squad takes some pot shots at the Ork Truck and miss.

On the other side of the city, ratlings start taking some shots at the Dreadnought and Inquisitor that are out in the open, one of the inquistors retinue gets it in the neck.

TURN 2
P1000846Ork truck carries on  and stops just short of the Zombies, just runs short of being able to tank shot them , the Nobz specialists start making very easy work of the Guard Infantry. Two Wounds each,  god knows how many attacks and a painboy this strike force is finding the infantry easy work. The ork boys follow behind, lagging from lack of transport

Grey Knight Termies in reserve deep strike next to the Ork Squad next to Objective 2, their storm bolters let rip and make mincemeat out of the entire squad. Only a few characters left of the weirdboyz squad.

Dreadnaught takes some shots through the ruined city at the Imperial Guard, that Lascannon gets lost in the heavy bush cover though.

BMG the Punisher tank with heavy flamers takes up position behind the Ork Nob Melee and brings that nasty P1000874heavy 20 weapon around to bear on the Impending Ork Hoard that haven't yet engaged in Close Combat, 9 of the dirty Orks get turned into a green wasabi like puree and start running away.

20 Zombies are herded and charge into the Melee start getting stuck into that tasty Ork flesh and actually manage take a couple out, taking heavy causalities constantly. Black Museum Sentinal and Infantry Squad take up position on Objective 1, with the Heavy Griffin lobbing nasty bombs at that Dreadnought that is disabled from moving, but in the best position, perfectly down line of site of all my men. Between the Griffon and the Ratlings the Inquistor that is taking cover is loses his retinue buddies pretty quickly. Command Squad brings it's well positioned Lascannon to bare on the Ork Truck and destrP1000871oys it.

TURN 3
Ork hoard run back to the farm.

Meanwhile the front line of Nobz and Warboss makes lingering bloody close combat, finishing off  all the infantry except for one particularly hardy trooper and attempts finish off the the Zombies that just keep coming (Conscripts with two close combat weapons and no shooting ability), The Painboy keeps boosting them with stims to keep the wounds off.

Meanwhile over in objective 2, Weirdboy and the remainders of his boys turn their heads and charge into the Grey Knight marines.

Grey Knights Dreadnaught takes some pot shots at the Imperial Guard in the Swamp and theP1000882 command platoon loses a infantry member. GK Terminators take up position around on Objective 2 and let ripp on the Orks that have rallied and are now holed up in the Sandbag village. The melee of the weirdboy squad turns the other way as the hunter becomes the hunted and the GKnight marines chop them up into Donar Kebab type strips.

BMG Shoot shoot shoot. Ratlings fire pointlessly at the now disabled Dreadnought looking for a lucky shot and the Mortar takes out Inquistor totally.

Troops embed around Objective 1. This punisher looks for a clear shot of the Ork Nobz and just doesn't get it. Ork Nobz finish up the Zombies and set their sights on the next sP1000875quad. Will the Punisher ever get a clear shot ? That big Claw and strength Ten ork will make strawberry squash out of the tank.
Reserves finally turn up, Marbo the man of the moment has been lying in waiting around Objective 1 the whole game and drops a demolition charge and bingo hits the Terminators square on, although rolls pretty badly with the Strength 8 AP2 it could be totally over for the Termie squad, but alas only gets two of them.

TURN 4

Ork Koptaz come in as reserve and unleash some big dakka agains the inquisitorial stom troopers, wiping out the squad.

The Ork Nobz maybe only three of them left but with 30 kills already under their belt they add another 10 this turn and wipe out the whole infantry squad.

The now depleted boyz fire back at the Termies fortified farm to no use. Ork Copters finally turn up a little late, but set up position behind the Inquistorial Guard and make mush out of an easy target, stopping the Grey Knights from holding both Objectives.

Grey Knight Space Marines move to take up position around Objective 1. Terminators are not very happy about losing two of their battle brethren to this little chump. They take up a clear shot and riddle Marbo with bullet holes. The Dreadnaught fires again at the Black Guard Lascannon placement hidden in the bushes. Hits a squad member.

BMG: P1000888OK if those Nobz have another go they will certainaly kill the punisher Tank, was thinking this is the only decent weapon I have left against the Termies. The tank finds position and lets rip with everything, 3 Heavy Flamers, and the full Gatling cannon. Only take the Painboy out! Balls. Ratlings and Mortar carry on their mission to ruin the Dreadnoughts paintjob. Infantry and the Sentinal think about doing something, Sentinal breaks cover and takes up position to cover the ratlings.

TURN 5
Ork Kopters bust out rounda into the ratlings, opening fire as they get amongst the ratlings, that fail a morale check and get running.

Ork Nobz 43 Models this squad has decimated and has a 5 attacks with a strength ten doofing power claw against this tank, everything misses.

Grey Knights Termies hide from the Griffons Mortar. Despite copious sledging the emporers finest are feeling vunerable. Dreadnought takes another shot at the Lascannon placement, another squad member loses a life.

P1000890BMG the punisher tank is the luckiest machine going, backs up and brings it Gatling cannons and Flamers to bear on these two Nobz for the umpteenth time. 9 Wounds against these fragging dirty killing machines ... Overkill finally!  The Sentinal opens up on the Copters attempting to cover the ratlings flee. The Commanders Lascannon team takes out another Terminator.

Conclusions:

Black Museum Guard are holding Objective 1.
Grey Knights hold Objective 2.

Sounds like a showdown.
Orks are decimated, mainly because the Ork player usually wins we all took a healthly interest in all of his forces. Also a discovery that 40 troops are not enough for a squad of Nobz with a Painboy, need something bigger. Might be time to invest in those Ogryns.

Man Of The Match: Has to be that Ork Warboss. Either that or the Imperial Guard Infantry Sargent that stood up against him for four bouts and survived,

Added to this was:

Reinforced Ram - made out of old sprues.

Wrecking Ball - Made from Foar, matchsticks & left over fantasy battle bits.

Boarding Plank - Made from nail files, matches, string & a Grotling herders claw.

Reinforced Armor Plates - Made from left over bathroom tiles.

The rest of the stuff was pieced together with more matches, the weave from the bathroom tiles, bits from some old WW2 truck and left over bits from models.

Shonky. Ork Style:

New recruits of the Black Museum

They only need to hear a few words that were written in that book that day to join the good fight. This guy Miner Artes though, knew something was up straight away and joined the 13th Irregular battalion with thinking twice.

Craft day

Browsing Ebay i saw some tasty bunkers, all seemed to go for about £10 a time. Cue 500 grams of  Das Clay and a couple of hours making little sandbags and bingo, two bunkers ready for the Black Museum Guard to take cover in. Looking forward to finding a moment to painting them.

Big Blast From The Past

This guy has been stomping around for years. Origionally painted last Millenium, he's been dug out of an old loft he's back to lead a new Waagh.

A bit bright for the new 'dirty' orks that'll mamke up the rest of the army. but still kicks arse.

A Trip to the Post Office

Last night I was working on this Out Of Production Necromunda Bounty Hunter. I think he makes a pretty cool Commander character for the BMD.

[caption id="attachment_127" align="aligncenter" width="393" caption="Shop Steward Hooligan from the Black Museum Desparadoes "]P1000358[/caption]

Ok some lazy stuff here, my first pre-stuck together, prepainted Black Museum unit. I bought this guy for £9 on Ebay. I just am not into Sentinals they aren't hard enough, fast enough or can infiltrate or do anything useful. This guy looked so badass and went for cheaper then a new unit I thought he might change my mind enough to stick my own ones together.

Now this is the best Conversion piece I have ever seen... SO MUCH CAN BE DONE WITH IT!
Is it going to be a Skull shaped Bastion that is the entrance to the Black Museum, or can I convert it to an Artillery piece, or even a Manticore style rocket platform. Either way the best 99p I have spent with 40k in mind.

Buildin' Big Gunz

Gunz Gunz Gunz.

Gotta have 'em.

The more shonky  the better.

These guys were made from 'bits left lying around'- an old battle cart here, a piece of an old ork trukk, some stereo jack plugs, cigarette filters - whatever was at hand, in true ork style.

Frakking Flamboyant Space Marines

These guys look so nice it will almost be a shame to blow them up. Sports just came round with his fledgling new Marine army, the rules of his army seems to be as frakking flamboyant as possible. He has got his hands on some of those Space Hulk Terminators too.
